The Town's Building Division is responsible for:

• the approval of the structural and mechanical elements of buildings, including plumbing, heating and ventilation; 
• the issuance of Building Permits, scheduling and completing inspections.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING PROPOSED INCREASE IN BUILDING PERMIT FEES

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 7 of the Ontario Building Code Act and Division C, Section 1.9.1.2 of Ontario Regulation 332/12 of the said Act that the Municipal Council of the Town of Fort Erie intends to consider a by-law at its meeting of December 16, 2024, to increase the current building permit fees.

Builders and members of the public are invited to appear before Council at the public meeting to be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 6 p.m. at 1 Municipal Centre Dr., Fort Erie, Ontario. Written submissions will also be accepted by the Town Clerk until 3 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024.

The proposal is to increase Building Permit Fees by 4% with new fees coming into effect on January 1, 2025. The objective of these increases is for the Building Department to operate closer to cost recovery from permit fee revenue. The costs of administering and enforcing the Building Code Act is available on the Town’s website.
