Cemetery Services
The Town of Fort Erie operates three active cemeteries; Greenwood Cemetery, McAffee Cemetery and Ridgeway Memorial Cemetery. The Town is also responsible for the maintenance of 15 inactive cemeteries (burials no longer take place in these cemeteries). In 2011 two new columbaria were constructed, one in Greenwood Cemetery and one in Ridgeway Memorial Cemetery. The new columbaria offer an alternative to traditional in ground burial of cremated remains.
Town staff will work with families to honour the final wishes of those that have passed, and are sensitive to your needs and are available to assist and guide you through the decision making process.
The process to have burials (interments) take place can be started by completing our Interment Request Form. This form is usually completed by either a funeral home or an individual family member entrusted with the cremated remains.

The Town of Fort Erie Cemetery By-law
The control of the operations and care of the Town of Fort Erie Cemeteries is regulated by the Cemetery By-law 25-13. This by-law was passed on Feb. 25, 2013 and is effective May 14, 2013 when the Ministry of Consumer Services approved it.
