Province withdraws Appeal of the Bridgeburg North Urban Area Expansion
Following the Niagara Region's approval of the Town's Bridgeburg Secondary Plan (OPA 5), the Province of Ontario appealed the decision to the Ontario Municipal Board. After delays in a resolution to the appeal, the Province withdrew and the Secondary Plan was provided final approval on December 10, 2014.
On July 28, 2011 Niagara Regional Council approved the Bridgeburg Secondary Plan. Regional Council also approved the proposed North Bridgeburg Urban Area Expansion which brings an extra 300+ acres of land into the urban area. The appeal period has commenced, and the last day for submitting an appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board is August 25, 2011.
On September 13, 2010 Council passed the various by-laws approving the Bridgeburg Secondary Plan. The Plan will now be sent to the Region of Niagara for their approval. The Region may either approve the Plan as is or amend the Plan if required. Watch this website for extra details as they become available.
