Mewinzha Archaeology and Indigenous History Gallery

Discover Mewinzha Archaeology and Indigenous History Gallery, a gallery that honours the Indigenous peoples who lived, traded, and created a flint-knapping industry on this site for thousands of years. Meaning “a long time ago,” Mewinzha features tools and weapons dating back 11,000 years, alongside contemporary Indigenous artwork that connects past and present.

Located in the lobby of the Peace Bridge Administration Building, the gallery was produced by the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority in partnership with the Town of Fort Erie, Fort Erie Museum Services, and the Fort Erie Native Friendship Centre. Together, the exhibit invites visitors to reflect on the deep history of the area and the enduring presence of Indigenous culture and creativity.

While onsite, visitors can also explore the Peace Bridge exhibition in the upper lobby.
