The Infrastructure Services Department at the Town of Fort Erie includes the Engineering, Operations, Parks, Facilities, Recreation, and Cemeteries divisions. Together, we plan, deliver, and maintain the essential infrastructure that supports our community every day.

Our goal is to provide reliable, efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable municipal services to residents and businesses. We are committed to delivering high-quality technical expertise and strategic advice to Council, the CAO, and the Town’s leadership team to support informed decision-making and long-term community growth.

Asset Management focuses on the long‑term care, sustainability, and performance of the Town’s infrastructure assets. This service area supports data‑driven decision making to maintain infrastructure responsibly over its lifecycle.

Cemetery services support the respectful operation, maintenance, and administration of municipal cemeteries, providing guidance on interments, memorials, and cemetery regulations.

Engineering oversees the planning, design, and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects. This includes technical review, construction management, and support for development to ensure infrastructure is safe, resilient, and aligned with the Town’s long‑term goals.

Mission:

The mission of the Engineering Division is to provide the town with physical assets such as water, sewers and drainage, roads and project design. We provide assistance and advice to ratepayers and external agencies. The Engineering Division staff make a continuous effort to ensure that Town operations maintain these physical assets, replace those in need of replacement, and make new investments to support the community's quality of life and prosperity.

This service area manages the treatment, distribution, and collection of drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. It ensures regulatory compliance, protects public health, and supports environmental sustainability.

The maintenance and care of public parks, green spaces, sports fields, and outdoor amenities to ensure they remain safe, accessible, and enjoyable for the community.

Recreation services support the operation and maintenance of municipal recreational facilities and amenities, working collaboratively to provide safe, welcoming spaces for programs and community use.

Roads is responsible for the maintenance, operation, and safety of municipal roadways, sidewalks, and related infrastructure to support safe and efficient transportation year‑round.

The Trees and Forestry program supports the planting, care, and protection of trees on public property. This includes managing Town‑owned trees, responding to tree‑related service requests, and promoting a healthy, sustainable urban forest for the community.

Infrastructure Services is responsible for reviewing and processing Water / Sanitary / Storm, Driveway Entrance, Municipal Occupancy and Overweight Vehicles Permit Applications.
