Canada 150 Mosaic – Fort Erie Project
Canada 150 Fort Erie Community Cultural Mosaic Poster Winners:
We were fortunate to have received several card stock copies of the Canada 150
Fort Erie Community Cultural Mosaic and have randomly selected winners for three
framed posters and have also drawn for 20 copies of the cardstock posters.

** New Presentation to Council on the Project - May 8, 2017
In celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary celebration, the Town of Fort Erie submitted a grant request to the Niagara Community Foundation (http://niagaracommunityfoundation.org) for participation in the Canada 150 Mosaic project. The project is a nationwide initiative that will create 150 murals in 150 communities by July 2017.
The Town was successful in its grant request and will be hosting two workshops, led by the Canada 150 Mosaic team, in order to create our Community Mosaic Mural. The Mural consists of 400 tiles created by community members, based on a design by key artist, Lewis Lavoie.
The Town was asked to provide one simple iconic object that famously represents the community and the Old Fort was chosen as the iconic object that the mural will be built around.
Participants were encouraged to leave their mark by creating a painting on a 4 x 4 inch tile that represented their community from their own creative perspective. Every painting tells a story and has become a piece of a much bigger story. Some of the tiles were pre-painted by local artists. The project encouraged participation by all members of the community.
The Mural was unveiled on June 19, 2017 in the Leisureplex. A video by Cogeco can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/cogecotvniagara/videos/1816728321673896/?hc.
