The Bertie Historical Society
The Fort Erie Historical Museum owes its existence to the Bertie Historical Society. First mention of a historical society was correspondence to Town Council regarding preservation of local history in 1898.
In 1969, the Society began plans to secure the Bertie Township Hall as a museum. That was accomplished in 1971 and the museum moved into its present home July 1, 1972.
The Bertie Historical Society runs a speakers programme with topics and outings of historical and environmental interest. All are invited to attend the meetings which are held on the third Wednesday of the month starting at 6:30 pm for the society meeting followed by the presenter at 7:00 pm, at the Crystal Ridge Library (unless otherwise noted).
Though our porgrammes are FREE to attend, your support with a yearly membership of $10.00 helps offset the expense of obtaining interesting speakers and the rental of a room at the Crystal Ridge Library.
