NOTICE: On March 31, 2020, the Ontario Government extended its emergency declaration to stop the spread of COVID-19. Under the new order, all outdoor recreational amenities such as sports fields and playgrounds are to be closed. This new order includes all communal or shared, public or private, outdoor recreational amenities, including but not limited to:

  • Playgrounds
  • Sports fields
  • Tennis Courts, Multi-Use Courts, Basketball Courts and Pickelball Courts
  • Off-leash dog parks
  • Beaches
  • Skatepark
  • Picnic areas
  • Outdoor community gardens
  • Parks shelters and pavilions
  • Condo parks and gardens
  • And other outdoor recreational amenities.

Green spaces in public parks, ravines, conservation areas and trails like the Friendship Trail would remain open for walkthrough access, but individuals must maintain the safe physical distance of at least two metres apart from others. Ontario’s provincial parks and conservation reserves remain closed.

With over 120 hectares of parkland, 33 parks, 45 kilometers of recreation and nature trails, kilometers of waterfront parks and access points, playgrounds and splash pads, sports fields, conservation areas, a concrete skatepark and a dog park, Fort Erie offers opportunities to suit every recreation and leisure need.

The Community Planning Division is responsible for managing the long term development of Fort Erie's neighbourhood, community, town and waterfront parks, recreational trail system and beautification programs with a focus on economic and social benefits, and environmental stewardship. Park Facility Bookings

Planning a public concert, art show or fundraising event in a Town Park, or fun run along the Friendship Trail? All public gatherings and events on Town property (parks, beaches, athletic fields, playgrounds, splash pads, pavilions, multi-use courts and picnic shelters) must be booked for  through the Town of Fort Erie Parks and Facilities Management Division, by calling 905-871-1600 ext. 2431. Click here for the Event Application Form.
