Bridgeburg Station Downtown Business Improvement Area Board of Management

Municipal Act, 2001
Section 204
(1) A local municipality may designate an area as an improvement area and may establish a board of management,
(a) to oversee the improvement, beautification and maintenance of municipally-owned land, buildings and structures in the area beyond that provided at the expense of the municipality generally; and
(b) to promote the area as a business or shopping area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and install a streetscape and downtown revitalization program
- Marketing, planning, research and development, promotions and special events
- Business recruitment of new property owners and tenants
- Streetscape improvements: beautification, street furniture, signage, lighting, banners, and seasonal decorating
- Develop and execute the town/property owner's Bridgeburg Station Facade Improvement Grant Program
- Maintain an effective Business Watch Program
- Increase community interest and pride in the district
- Foster on-going cooperation among members
- Cultivate lines of communication between BIA members, Town Council, and municipal staff
- Increase cost savings to the members though improved integration of capital funding and promotional activities
Composition: 8 citizen appointees and 1 Member of Council
Meeting Schedule: Meet every 3rd Thursday of the month except July & August
