Park Planning and Development


The long term development of the Town's neighbourhood, community & town parks and recreational trail system is an ongoing process that is performed in consultation with the community, with a focus on creating opportunities for active living, organized sports, passive recreation, waterfront access and environmental stewardship.

Parks and Open Space Master Plan

The Town of Fort Erie is planning for the future of its parks, trails and open spaces.

With a projected population growth of 32% over the next 20 years, the Parks and Open Space Master Plan will provide a long range and comprehensive strategy to assist with meeting the needs of current and future populations, and assist Council in making strategic investments to ensure a healthy community, improve the quality of life of residents, and encourage a sustainable environment.

Bay Beach Master Plan

Bay Beach Master Plan 

The Bay Beach site is currently under construction and closed to the public. Bay Beach will reopen for the 2019 beach season. Improvements will include a new washroom, festival square appropriate for a range of community events, an open air pavilion, a playground donated by the Ridgeway Lions Club, and protected Fowler's Toad habitat. The Fort Erie Accessibility Advisory Committee has applied for grant funding to install 400' of accessible beach mats between the park and the waters edge, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to access Lake Erie. Crystal Ridge Park Master Plan 

Crystal Ridge Park Master Plan 

Crystal Ridge Park is currently under construction, with parts of the park closed to public access. Phase 1 construction includes a open air pavilion, a senior playground, a junior playground, a tennis/pickelball court, a multi-use court for basketball and ball hockey, and a toboggan hill. Benches and picnic tables will provide ample seating. Phase 1 improvements will be open to the public in 2019.  Click on the above image for more information.

Albert Street Park Master Plan

Community organizations play a vital role in the development of Town Parks. Many have contributed funds or equipment, to both parkland development and existing park improvements.
