The Municipal Election will be held on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018.



The Voters’ List is provided to us by MPAC. If you have electors listed at your address in the MPAC file, you will have received Voter Cards for them. For those wishing to remove occupant names that should no longer be associated with a property/unit, contact the MPAC Customer Care Centre: Toll Free: 1-866-296-6722 Monday- Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Past Important Dates 

Register as a Candidate: Tuesday, May 1 to Friday, July 27 at 2 p.m.

To run for the office of Mayor, Councillor or School Board Trustee for 2018, candidates must file a nomination paper.


Nominations are open starting May 1, 2018 during normal business hours (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) up until Nomination Day on July 27, 2018, when the papers can only be submitted until 2 p.m.

Until you file a nomination paper, you cannot raise or spend any money on your campaign.


NEW ** Mayor and Councillor candidates must provide, along with their nomination paper, at least 25 declaration of endorsements from eligible electors. Forms will be available April 2018.


Nomination Day: Friday, July 27, 2018 | 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Deadline for filing or withdrawing nominations: Nominations may be filed only between the hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. People can also withdraw nomination papers, in writing, before 2 p.m.

Municipal Offices to be elected in 2018

Mayor: One (1) to be elected, at large within the Town. Also serves as a member of Regional Council.


Town Councillors: Six (6) to be elected, one (1) from each of the six (6) municipal wards:

  • Ward 1
  • Ward 2
  • Ward 3
  • Ward 4
  • Ward 5
  • Ward 6

Regional Councillors: One (1) to be elected to represent the Town of Fort Erie at the Regional Municipality of Niagara.


School Board Trustees to be elected in 2018


English Language Public District School Board
One (1) to be elected for the combined area of Fort Erie and Port Colborne


English Language Catholic District School Board
One (1) to be elected for the combined area of Fort Erie, Port Colborne and Wainfleet


French Language Public School Board (Conseil Scolaire Viamonde)
One (1) to be elected for the combined area of Fort Erie, Niagara Falls, Pelham, Port Colborne, Thorold, Welland and Wainfleet


French Language Catholic School Board (Conseil Scolaire Catholique MonAvenir)
One (1) to be elected for the combined area of Fort Erie, Port Colborne, Wainfleet, Pelham and Welland
